Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf (CCCD) Alumni Association - Canada; exists to promote and enrich the academic, cultural, spiritual, physical and social development of its schools in Jamaica.
As a registered member of The Alliance of Jamaica Alumni Associations Toronto, we aim to connect and build relationships with the deaf community in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and the Jamaican Diaspora.
This will be done by organizing Past students' gatherings, fund raising events, boosting child sponsorship program and mission trip visits to the schools and Hands in Praise tours. Hands in Praise is a praise team that ministers in sign language, and incorporates students from local CCCD schools in Jamaica.
Founded in 1958 by three missionaries from Ontario Canada, the missionaries leased a property in Manchester, Jamaica where they opened the first school with eight students and three staff.
Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf has since grown and currently operates three residential schools which spreads geographically across the Island (Kingston, Knockpatrick and Montego Bay) as well as a centrally located Jamaica Deaf Village which caters to Deaf adults and their children.
